Samsung patents flexible smartphone with multiple sub-screen cameras

The European Patent Office, according to LetsGoDigital website, has released a document revealing the design features of a new Samsung smartphone equipped with a flexible display.

We are talking about a device in the form-factor of a book, in which the screen will be folded into the body. This design will help protect the flexible panel from damage during daily use.

The main feature of the patented device is the camera hidden behind the display. It will be in the upper area of the right side of the case. Moreover, Samsung is considering the possibility of using a dual and even triple hidden selfie camera.

Various sensors will also be located behind the screen – light sensors, proximity sensors, etc. Finally, a fingerprint scanner will be under the flexible display area.

There is a possibility that the proposed technical solution will be embodied in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone; which Samsung plans to announce in August.

A description of anothre curious Samsung smartphone was also available on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The South Korean giant has patented another version of the design of a smartphone; in the form factor of a book. The device provides for the use of a flexible display that folds into the body.

The main feature of the novelty is a rotating multicomponent camera. This cylindrical block can rotate 180 degrees; so that users can use it for general photography and taking self-portraits (as well as for video calls).
